Concept
What is Correction?
In 30 seconds
A correction is action taken to eliminate a detected nonconformity, such as reworking a faulty part or fixing a record. It does not remove the cause of the nonconformity.
How does it work?
- The nonconforming product or situation that was detected is corrected.
- The result is checked and recorded.
Often confused with
Correction and corrective action
A correction removes the result (fixes this part). Corrective action removes the cause (stops this defect from happening again).
Common mistakes
- Considering the problem solved once the correction is done.
- Repeating the same correction without starting corrective action.
From a QWorks perspective
QWorks tracks correction and corrective action as separate steps; closure expects evidence that the cause was addressed.
