Customer requirement
What is CSR?
Customer-Specific Requirements
In 30 seconds
Customer-specific requirements (CSR) are the automotive OEMs’ own requirements that they expect from suppliers in addition to IATF 16949. They can cover topics such as response times, problem-solving format, special characteristic symbols and approval processes.
How does it work?
- Each OEM publishes and updates its own CSR document.
- The supplier must reflect these requirements in its quality system and daily processes.
- An IATF 16949 audit also assesses whether customers’ CSRs are applied.
Often confused with
CSR and contract
CSRs are requirements aimed at the quality system; they are separate from commercial contract terms but should be read together.
Common mistakes
- Applying the same process to every customer and missing different deadlines.
- Not following CSR updates.
From a QWorks perspective
In QWorks customer-specific time targets and requirements are carried into the case with the customer context; Standard Management and Customer Management are shared platform capabilities.
